Today Bariatric Surgery is the only known effective treatment option for morbidly obesity and its complications. Gastric Bypass Surgery and Gastric Banding offer patients not only dramatic weight loss, but also improvement or resolution of many of the diseases that are associated with Morbid Obesity. At our office, Dr. Jawad is able to perform this Bariatric Surgery using the minimally invasive Laparoscopic surgical technique, without long incisions. This technique reduces the amount of pain, scaring, time in the hospital, and promotes an early recovery with a reduction in later complications. 

Dr. Jawad has been a Pioneer in laparoscopic surgery since 1990, having performed the first laparoscopic appendectomy and the first laparoscopic colon resection in the Marion County area in 1991. Since then, he has performed over six thousand laparoscopic surgical procedures of different kinds. His skill and experience as a surgeon is widely known and respected, was awarded Ocala's Top Doctor award (Best in his Field in 2001), and his Surgical Success Outcomes beat the national surgical average.

Dr. Jawad has been performing Bariatric Surgery in Central Florida since 1984, and Laparoscopic Bariatric Surgery since 1999, having completed over 2000 Bariatric Surgical Cases safely, and with great success. Dr. Jawad has performed Laparoscopic Roux-En-Y Gastric Bypass on patients with BMI ranges 35-94, with the Heaviest patient done Laparoscopicly being 706 pounds.

Support Group Information and Dates

Dr. Jawad is pleased to announce that we have Bariatric Support Group in both Ocala and Orlando !!Patients whom have had either surgery (LapBand and Gastric Bypass), are welcome to attend one or both meetings, as well as family, friends, guests, patients from other physicians, and anyone interested in learning more about Bariatric Surgery.. basically, ALL ARE WELCOME !

We will talk about stratagies for success, discuss the common problems facing weight loss patients, celebrate success stories, address questions or concerns, and provide the support Bariatric Patient's need to succed. Meetings usually last about 2 hours, Starting at 6PM till 8PM.

Meetings will be held in Orlando on the 4th Monday of each Month, and in Ocala on the 3rd Thursday of each month with few execptions. Please check the schedule to be sure of the dates (some dates are changed due to holdiays).
